Situated in the heart of Mildura, Regis Ontario enjoys enclosed leafy courtyard gardens and raised vegetable garden areas which ensure residents are always enticed outdoors in this renowned Mediterranean climate. Threaded through the courtyards are meandering walkways and a water feature, as well as indoor activity rooms and comfortable lounges with open fireplaces.

The facility reflects Silver Thomas Hanley’s philosophy that aged care should be contemporary but also creates a sense of place and domesticity. Clearstory lighting and high ceilings provide an open, uplifting and welcoming environment.

The project is a 38 room extension to an existing 70 room low to high care + dementia facility. Studio STH modernised and extended the facility, creating new communal spaces including a family retreat, café, cinema, hairdresser, kitchen, library/media room and new living and dining rooms.

The design also incorporates a new doctors and physiotherapy suite. The form of the facility is low slung and domestic in scale with a material palate designed to reflect the colours and texture of Mildura and the Murray River.

The facility was designed by Studio STH and constructed by local builders CPM Building Contractors.
