Maryborough Hospital Redevelopment

Maryborough, Victoria

Connecting Historical Urban Context to the Public Realm

The Maryborough and District Hospital redevelopment is a new multi-storey hospital to the south of the existing hospital plus some minor refurbishment works to existing assets. The redevelopment creates an important new civic building for the City of Maryborough. Located within the heritage rich goldfields precinct, the new hospital is adjacent to the cultural heart of the City. The architecture has evolved with reference to the importance of the historical urban context and the existing public realm to create a new significant connected building, both inside and out.

The Maryborough and District Hospital redevelopment aims to meet the needs of central Victoria's growing population. The project will enable the hospital to treat an extra 4,000 patients each year.

It will provide better access to primary and community health services will provide the region with the care and treatment they need, leading to better health outcomes.

The new contemporary workplace will provide a unique working environment for staff, families and carers promoting safety and wellbeing. This will support the Hospital to attract and retain staff.
