Murrenda Residential Aged Care Home

Wantirna, Victoria

Connected to Community

The $81.6 million development creates a new building typology for the Public Aged Care Sector in Victoria. The 120-bed development will accommodate residents in single rooms with private ensuites and home like design initiatives.

The building design allows residents to maintain connections with the community, including a dedicated community room, café and sacred space. The common areas are designed as shared spaces for residents to participate in a broad range and choice of activities.

The residential focused architecture seeks to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of residents, carers and staff.  Views to surrounding landscape will further enhance connections to nature and the overall quality and amenity of the residence. The colour palette was designed to be different on each 30 bed unit to assist with wayfinding and placemaking. Art within the facility has been carefully curated to compliment these colour palettes.

Dementia friendly graphics throughout the facility have been specifically designed to reflect the geographical locations in the great Dandenong region and to further enhance wayfinding, creating interest, particularly in shared multi purpose spaces and hair salon.

Recently completed, the facility will form part of the greater Wantirna Health Precinct; a community focused neighbourhood that provides integrated health and well being services.
